Integration of Modern and Traditional Design

Integrating new material updates while maintaining the home’s existing charm was the challenge brought to Taylor Made Custom Contracting. New appliances such as a wet bar, ice maker and wine refrigerator were introduced into this butler’s pantry. Wanting a contrast with the custom white wood cabinetry, the homeowners selected black quartz counter tops and sage glass mosaic tiles.

For design continuity purposes, matching Corian surfaces were fabricated and installed on the existing 60″ x 60″ kitchen table and butler’s pantry counter tops.

The radiators were relocated to make room for additional cabinets. Along with the stainless steel intricate lighting system, Taylor Made installed recessed lights, dimmer switches and under-cabinet lighting to complete the transformation.

Animals on the Walls and Ceilings Create a Unique Environment

Wanting unique decorations for their home, the homeowners chose to have murals painted on the walls and ceilings. Because the designs were completely customized, they incorporated the wife’s love for the beach with the husband’s desire for a cabin in the woods.

Keeping with realistic themes, the muralist carefully selected trees and animals that were indigenous to the scenes.

As a playful touch, animals were hidden into the family room design. Light switched, vents and thermostats were painted to maintain the flow.

Scaffolding was used to paint clouds and birds on the two-story foyer ceiling. Lastly, an egret was positioned to create the illusion that it was walking up the stairs.

Relaxing Bathroom Remodel

The home owner knew exactly what she wanted. It was a place to relax. Choosing a jetted tub with a heated liner was her first bathroom selection. The rest of the bathroom was designed around it.

Integrating black canyon colored silestone for all surfaces such as the vanity counter top, door threshold, shower niches and tub deck, created continuity throughout the bathroom. The various hues of brown used throughout all area helped to create a warm feeling.

Wanting to add her own special touches, the homeowner asked Taylor Made to design and create three silestone niches to the shower; two for soap and shampoo and one as a foot rest for shaving.

Keeping with the relaxation theme, dimmer switched were installed so the amount of artificial light could be controlled. First thing in the morning, lights could be set bright but during a bath, the lights could be set low. New translucent blinds were installed on the window in this bathroom in order to maintain the delicate balance of natural lighting and privacy.

An extra tall maple cabinet was chosen to increase the amount of storage space. The rest of the vanity area was symmetrically designed with matching sinks and drawer bases. Rounded cabinets and counter top at the under mounted sinks created a unique layout that was truly custom.

Elegant & Rustic Design in one Bathroom!

In conjunction with a newly remodeled basement, this bathroom was added utilizing the same color scheme and overall design as the main area.

Incorporating the various shades of brown for tile, paint, fixtures, and wood helped enhance its rustic design. The granite topped cherry wood vanity was custom fabricated to house a vessel sink and bronze lever faucet.

As a unique architectural feature, matching granite corner shelves were created adjacent to the vanity and in the shower area.

A transparent custom frame less hinged shower door served as a stylish and space saving option.

This bathroom proves that elegant and rustic design can complement each other.

Award Winning Kitchen & Family Room Remodel!

Living in a center hall colonial from the 1970′s, the homeowners needed a larger kitchen to support their growing family.

Restricted by the inability to expand with an addition, Taylor Made utilized the existing footprint of the house to remodel the kitchen and expand it into the adjoining family room.

This made room for a granite topped two-tiered island with a unique foot allowing both work room and seating area.

Because of the kitchen’s angled central work station, homeowner can prepare for while interacting with guests who are seated at the connecting higher tiered eating area.

The flow of the home was preserved by the consistent hardwood flooring and the color and cabinet features were in keeping with the home’s traditional feel. The result was a large gathering area to be used for everyday activities as well as entertaining larger groups.

Walk-in closet becomes a bathroom!

This master bathroom needed remodeling to fit into the elegant style of a colonial home.

Before

By changing the adjacent walk-in closet into a huge walk in shower, the room was now adequately sized for the home. The new oversized shower allowed for a full seat, three faucets, and a doorway.

The remaining space completely revamped to include a furniture style vanity with double bowl sinks and custom mosaic patterns throughout.

The new floor pan provided a large area for the commode almost separate from the main bathroom area. The incorporation of a half wall provided privacy without the restriction of another door.

Including granite on the vanity, door thresholds and on the half wall ledge, helped transform this space into an elegant retreat that the owners can enjoy for many years to come.

Character Filled Kitchen

Taylor Made designed an addition for the rear of the home to include a new powder room and an enlarged kitchen area.

Naturally, we had to update the kitchen to take advantage of the new space. With ceilings present, we provided taller cabinetry to extend the storage space without losing any floor space.

Traditional cabinetry with detailed moldings was chosen to retain the charming qualities already integrated in the home.

Granite counters, commercial style stainless steel appliances and radiant floor heating added the comforts and conveniences of a modern kitchen.

Unique hardware chosen by the homeowner completed the stylish urban kitchen.

A Basement Designed for Entertaining

Before

Although this basement was spacious, it had two structural beams positioned in prominent places.

Instead of merely covering the beams, they were incorporated into this unique design.

Because the homeowners like to entertain, they agreed that adding a 13 ft. granite-topped cherry wood cabinet area would add interest and function to the room.

Using different neutral paint color tones added dimension to the already interesting tray ceiling design. Incorporating both pendant and recessed lighting, helped to create an overall warm feeling to the newly remodeled basement.
